Daily December

I finished assembling my Daily December tonight. I don't have pics of the inside pages but you can see the cover here. I haven't put 25 pages inside the album because I plan to make some pages full 4x6 or even 6x6 photos as well as make pages out of Christmas cards I might receive. I do have a few cool pages I put together, but you'll see those later when I get to posting the individual complete pages. I doubt I will post each page every day, but maybe at the end of a week or something.

If you have any questions about any of the materials I used here on the cover, just ask. I really love this 6x6 binder album by BoBunny. It is the same type of album I used for my CHA album which you can see in this post. I did however, add some charms to the spine of it since this picture using a picture hook with a screw and bolt.
I am thinking all of my mini albums will be this album so I could nicely display them all on a shelf and they would all coordinate as I have started doing this with my AC d-ring albums. I started out with a black one, then thought, well maybe I will change it up and go with a green. the next one I bought was back to black. They just look more uniform all together like that on a shelf. I guess it is my Type A personality coming out.
I do have my California mini album to get started on, but I know for sure I am going to do that one in the altered vintage book I posted about some time ago.
The Vampire Diaries was so HOT tonight. Elena and Stefan finally got it on! I don't get the whole Vampire Diaries marathon thing next month though. It is 10 episodes over a full five nights. Are they new episodes or what? Speaking of HOT vampires, I am on book 4 of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. There is this one vampire, who is Bill's boss who has the hots for Sookie. He always tries to seduce her but vampire glamor tricks don't work on her so she always turns him down. Well, now that she knows Bill cheated on her and planned to leave her for his old flame and Eric is a bit altered in the personality/memory department, she finally gave in, and let me tell you, that was a really hot chapter! I am really loving these books and I put the first season of True Blood on my Christmas wish list.
Alright, well I have to work tomorrow and then I have league on Saturday, last one till January, and then Frankenmuth on Sunday so I doubt I will be back to blog before the end of the weekend. So have a good one and happy scrapping.
Oh, and if you are doing a Daily December, link me up. I'd love to get some inspiration for pages from other people. It is sort of hard to do a daily thing when you live alone and have no kids to follow around and take pics of. So help a girl out with some ideas. You can also follow my daily prompts over on the A Million Memories message boards, a forum I hosted there last year.

Whose team are you on?

I really can't decide whose team I would be on. Edward is sexy and mysterious, but Jacob is heartfelt, and loyal.

Notice anything strange about this movie poster? Only 1 more day. Unfortunately I won't be going to see it in the theater on Friday because I can't stand seeing a movie with high school girls who will talk through the whole thing! I will probably go to an early showing of it over Christmas break or something.

I have been working on my December Daily and have all the pages cut and the cover done, just need to assemble and then I am ready to go. Then I can work on my California mini and finish up a little garland project I have been working on. Sorry, thinking my project timeline out loud there.

I am really excited to go to Frankenmuth with the family, sans mom who has to work, this weekend. Eating at Bavarian Inn and hitting up Bronners, the world's largest Christmas store should for sure put me in the mood.

I ran a few errands with mom today. We had to get some gift cards for her friend to give her grandkids so we went to Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie at Somerset. Mom got me the prettiest long wrap sweater at Anthropologie, but I don't get it till Christmas, and a knit neck sweater. I have seen lots of them on etsy but they were always too expensive. Then we had lunch at the cafe at Macy's. This is so sick! The hostess was clearing off another table next to ours as we were just sitting down and apparently the other table hadn't eaten their bread basket so she picked it up and put it down on our table to eat. We were so grossed out! I can't believe she did that. We were like, "Uh, I don't think so!" and gave the bread basket to our waitress to take away. I was shocked. Kind of made eating my chicken pot pie a little less enjoyable wondering who else had eaten from that bowl.

Anyway, then mom dropped me off at home where I worked on my December mini. Hopefully I will have it together to show you soon.

Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly Layouts

As I mentioned before, the A Million Memories Design Team was sponsored by Cosmo Cricket for our Anniversary Crop last month. In addition to being sent the "Earth Love" line we also got the Christmas line, "Jolly By Golly". So here are the projects I did with that line of papers and embellishments.
First, a layout. "Vintage Christmas". I used some pics that are from circa 1984 and 1985 of my sister and me with Santa. Ah, the mall pic with Santa, gotta love them!

Here I covered a Jenni Bowlin chipboard button with some of the Cosmo Cricket patterned paper and then glued the ribbon to the back and stitched on the button in the center when all was dry.

I also made the door hanger, which I already posted, but here it is again.
And lastly is this vertical banner I made and sneaked about the other day. I used a snowflake mini album by Maya Road for this one.

Working on all these little Christmas projects is really getting me in the mood for the holidays. I even started working on putting my Daily December album together though it isn't really coming together too well just yet. Are you doing a Daily December this year?
I also have another little seasonal project in the works, but that I can't work on till Saturday and I am wanting to do some of those little fabric wrapped cone trees but I haven't bought anything for it yet. I have too many other projects to do, so that one might be on hold till next year.

Donna Downey Class

Here is another pic from Donna Downey's class I took on Nov 8th at Scrappy Chic. I had been scrapping at league all day the day before class when this picture was taken so I was looking a little worn out so I converted it to black and white.
Here is the first of three swatches that we worked on. I haven't had a chance to get to work on the other two yet. We were supposed to write the word "family" with this ink and calligraphy pen but I am not a fan of my handwriting so I painted some yellow foam Thickers black and glued them on here. In this swatch we leaned about modeling paste and water soluble oil pastels. I was Donna's guinea pig during this class since I was so nervous to try out some of these techniques. So she colored my background for me and I blended. I wish I had brought better book text to use because I should have had a line of text above my title poking out there but that's alright I guess. I hope to get to work on the other two over Christmas break.

I will have some Cosmo Cricket "Jolly By Golly" to share tomorrow and hopefully that scrappy announcement later this week.

Sneaky

I have some big scrappy news to share but can't just yet. So to further tease you here is a sneak of a little project that I have been working on this past week.

I have lots and lots to do this week and luckily I have my last scrapbook league this Saturday until the next session starts so hopefully I can get some projects done or going to show you. Be back soon.

Welcome Winter

Winter is just around the corner and to celebrate I made this super cute little door hanger. Even though my west coast friends can't understand -20 degrees or snow, it doesn't really bother me. Not everyone can live in this weather.

I used some papers from Cosmo Cricket's "Jolly By Golly" line and chipboard from the line. The base and large snowflake is made from a die cut at my LSS. I stitched with my sewing machine around the edge to give it a more finished look.

I have a cute little vertical banner and a layout with an old Christmas pic coming soon. Lots to do and catch up on, like a California mini, my Daily December, my swatches from Donna Downey class, and keep up on my journaling for my "Thankful Hearts" class at Treasure Book Creations.

I had a nice little girls' night last night, My friend Nicole and Jen came over and we had dinner at Friday's then came back to my place for some drinks and to watch "Orphan".

I got some errands run today, grocery store, pick up a new ink cartridge, and a new book from the Sookie Stackhouse books. I am on book 4. Other than that, I haven't been up to much really.

The Beach Story

So, I am writing this to dispel any misinformation Michelle may have put out there about how her camera got broken, as well as mine, and the attempt on my life.

The story began on Wednesday morning. I slept in Daniel's bed and each morning he would open the door and poke his curly haired head in and grin a really big grin and wave as Michelle was getting him and Chloe ready for school. I think he was checking to see if I was still there. Later, that same morning I heard Chloe pronounce "I want to wake Jenny up. We never see her. She just sleeps all the time." So then Daniel said, "I'll go wake her." To which Michelle scolded, "Don't you dare!"
So I finally got up after Michelle and the kids were gone. Michelle planned to take me to the Beach that day in Las Verdes, I believe it was. We headed out late morning. I had my camera in tow, my newly purchased Hollywood hoodie on, and some sneakers. I planned to take a little excursion out onto the rocks for some really great pics.

Here I started to venture out a little further and a little higher.
It was a sort of foggy overcast day but you could see Catalina from where we were, which was really cool. Michelle and I ventured out towards the water and onto the rocks. the waves were really crashing and it was so pretty. I ventured out a lot further than Michelle. She told me that you could sometimes find shells or crabs out in the tide pools.

My shoes got totally soaked when this wave came in. I should have known then I was getting a little too adventurous walking out on these wet and mossy covered rocks.
The waves were really starting to come in.
In the background here you can sort of see what I am pretty sure is Catalina off there in the fog. Those birds were pelicans.
I ventured out a little further and noticed that a lot of the rocks were covered with mussels. I ventured a little further out in search of some little critters I could take a picture of and that is when I found the most beautiful black starfish with these white sparkles all over it.
It was perched atop a rock that was at the bottom of this 6 foot long by maybe 2 feet wide trench. It was empty of water mostly except when the waves would come in. I called Michelle out to me on these rocks to see it. When she got out there I leaned down to try to pick it up off the rock but it was really suctioned on there. Michelle decided she would try to get the starfish from the rock and she stepped a foot down onto the rock it inside the trench. However, just at the moment that she leaned down to get the starfish, a huge wave came in and she lost her footing on the wet slippery rocks and started to go down. Like a good friend, I reached out to grab her arm and hopefully hold her up. I was ready to risk my life to save hers.
However she pulled me down with her. We were both stuck in this trench which was way over our heads and the waves continued to crash in on top of us. I was standing behind her with the freezing cold water about up to my chest. Michelle kept trying to pull herself out but with the waves she kept slipping back in and knocking me down. In the meantime, I was holding my camera in my left hand above my head trying to not get it wet. Finally, after three attempts to pull herself out, Michelle finally got out and then I climbed out after her. We had to walk back across the rocks to the beach all the while I am soaked to the bone, my new sweatshirt has green moss stains all over it, my hands were sliced up and bleeding and shaking, and my camera was smashed.
So we finally made our way out of the tide pools. I had to stop and sit for a few minutes because I was so freaked out. All the while Michelle was laughing. Laughing! Lending more credence to my suspicions that this was all a ploy to off me. For example, she was not bruised and/or cut. She was not nearly as soaked as I was. And she did not seem at all bothered by our near death experience. Not wanting to get blood on my clothes, I had Michelle take off my hoodie and I kicked off my shoes which squish squished all the way back to the car.
I immediately called my mom and of course she freaked out a little bit. Probably didn't help that the first words out of my mouth were, "I just want to let you know that I am still ok." When we got back to the house, I immediately got in the shower to warm myself up.
Later we had to go pick the kids up from school. As soon as Daniel got in the car I started to recruit him to my side. I said, "Daniel, when someone does something bad to you, or hurts you , what are you supposed to do?" Unfortunately, he wasn't so interested in my story. then we picked up Chloe and I posed the same question to her. Fortunately, Chloe was more receptive and immediately joined Team Jenn scolding her mom for throwing me off some rocks and into the ocean. She said she believed me because Michelle had no cuts to speak of. I knew I liked this girl for a reason. Daniel would just have to act as a character witness.
We had an early dinner at this awesome taco place. They were so delicious! I had two fried tacos and a beer. I promised the kids I would get up with them in the morning to see them off to school.
When we got home is when we discovered that Michelle's photo card, which had pictures from the entire trip on it, was ruined. Luckily, my photo card was safe and she downloaded my pictures on her camera. We decided to put on "The Holiday" which was one of the movies that had the Greystone Mansion in it to see if we could tell which scene the house was in. As usual Michelle fell asleep on the couch (I told you it was a theme) while I snuggled with Daniel and played.
And that is pretty much the end of the trip report. The next morning I was flying home. One quick little story was that Bobby Brown was on my plane on the way back home. He stood by the door the entire time the plane was loading like he was trying to make sure everyone knew he was on the plane. Once we took off he of course started drinking and buying drinks for the people around him. Apparently he was on his way to Amsterdam for a show. Did I mention he was sitting in coach? Yep, life must be treating him really well. When he were coming in for a landing is when he finally woke up and decided that it was the perfect time to use the restroom. At one point during the flight, he cut in front of a line of people at the bathroom and went up to the first class bathroom. I mean why should the rules apply to him, right? Also, sitting next to me was the mom of one of the stars of the ABC show, Eastwick. They are originally from Michigan. She and I had a very nice chat as she got a little too personal asking all kinds of questions about me, if I have a boyfriend, my job, etc. A little weird, but it made the trip last a little longer.
I landed at about 8:30 but didn't get out of the airport till like 9:30. I was waiting at the baggage claim for about two hours waiting for my luggage. It never came off the belt it was supposed to. I kept checking in with the Luggage Claim Office but it wasn't there. My dad kept trying to call me but my phone was dead, so he was really ticked. Turns out my bag was on another belt. How the heck could I have ever found that?! Finally made it home at 10:30pm tired, sore, and exhausted from a fantastic trip! The first of hopefully many more. Thanks for a great trip Michelle!!
